PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES
School psychologists are a part of the educational team and are specially trained to understand the growth, learning and needs of children and youth from an educational and developmental perspective. Psychologists in the Omaha Public Schools are certified by the state, which requires two years of course work beyond a master's degree and a supervised internship in a school setting. School psychologists use their skills to:
- Team with teachers, parents and other professionals to ensure that students are performing to the best of their ability.
- Provide comprehensive consultative and assessment services for children and youth from birth to age 21.
- Evaluate ability, academic levels, behavior and emotional development, as well as the environment in order to help students do their best.
The duties of school psychologists involve all aspects of a child's learning environment:
- The classroom, the home, the school district, and the community.
The Division of Psychological Services is committed to providing the very best assessment, consultation, and intervention services for students, parents, and staff of the Omaha Public Schools.
