Basic educational concepts of the alphabet, words and numbers are introduced, so that by the time a child enters kindergarten, he or she is at the appropriate level with other children. Head Start Family Advocates and teachers will also assist parents with providing transition services and information to guide them through the transition process, such as a listing of neighborhood schools, dates of kindergarten roundup and what is needed to register children for kindergarten. Other Head Start transition services may include returning children progressing from the first year of Head Start to the second year or from Early Head Start.
