Certification Requirements
Directions for Completion of the Application Process for a Regular Teaching Certificate:

1. Submit an Application Form, fill out Section A, Parts I through VI to:

2. Forward OFFICIAL transcripts of ALL college credits to the Department of Education.

3. Pre-Professional Skills Test - Submit an OFFICIAL score report directly from Educational Testing Service.

4. Submit an OFFICIAL transcript of your pre-approved Human Relations Training course, or a Human Relations Training Voucher and an OFFICIAL transcript.

5. Special Education Requirement - Submit evidence of the completion of the Special Education requirement.

6. INSTITUTIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS - Submit Section B of the Application Form completed by the college certification officer
       OR

       A photocopy (front and back) of the out-of-state valid REGULAR certificate.  Note: Recommendation required for any advanced degree completed.

7. Verify two successive years of teaching experience using the Verification of Successive Experience Form;
       OR

       Submit OFFICIAL transcripts indicating six (or fifteen) semester hours of credit completed within three years prior to the date of application and Section D of the Application Form completed by the certification officer

8. Pay the nonrefundable application fee listed in Part II of the application.

9.  FINGERPRINTING:  Any person applying for the first issuance of a Nebraska certificate who has not been a resident of Nebraska for at least five continuous years immediately preceding the date of application must submit fingerprints with the application for Nebraska certification.  For more information, please visit the Omaha Public School's Fingerprinting information site.

       ANALYSIS OF YOUR APPLICATION WILL TAKE TWO TO FOUR WEEKS AFTER WHICH YOU WILL RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OR A REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION OR A WARNING THAT YOUR APPLICATION MAY BE DENIED AND THE REASON(S) FOR THE DENIAL.
