King Science & Technology Magnet students in Brett Redemske's fifth grade Aviation Exploratory class had the chance to take a bird's-eye-view field trip above Omaha! They teamed up with the EAA Young Eagles to ride along with professional pilots Harlon Hain and Ed Haffke and see firsthand what it takes to fly a single-engine plane.
During the weeklong exploratory class, students learn about the progression of aviation. They also study the various controls found in a cockpit, and the principles of aerodynamics. Students make their own glider airplanes and tour the SAC Museum. While at SAC, students test what they've learned by taking the controls of a computer flight simulator.
