McMillan Magnet Wins National United States Academic Decathlon (USAD) Pentathlon Scrimmage
In the January Academic Pentathlon National scrimmage, McMillan Magnet Middle School outscored the reigning national champions from Riverview Middle School in Plymouth, Wis., to win the Overall Team gold medal.
The Academic Pentathlon is a five event competition for middle school students that encourages and rewards academic excellence. The events are joined thematically around the “Age of Empire.” Students compete in essay, math, music, science and social science. Individual and team awards are given. The Academic Pentathlon is sponsored by the OPS Office of Gifted and Talented Education.
