Library Media Curriculum

Library media specialists in the Omaha Public Schools offer comprehensive instruction on information literacy and teach the reading/language arts content standards.  They also offer instructional support for all subject areas.

These content standards were approved by the Nebraska Department of Education on April 13, 2007.
Elementary library media specialists have the opportunity to teach students on a regular basis through a fixed schedule.  The content standards above are infused into units and lessons which support the classroom curriculum.
Secondary library media specialists work with classroom teachers to identify opportunities for instruction.  All secondary library media centers have a flexible schedule.
