School librarians in the Omaha Public Schools offer comprehensive instruction on information literacy and teach the reading/language arts content standards. They also offer instructional support for all subject areas.

These content standards were approved by the Nebraska Department of Education July1, 2009. Elementary school librarians have the opportunity to teach students on a regular basis through a fixed schedule. Secondary school librarians work with classroom teachers to identify opportunities for instruction. All secondary library media centers have a flexible schedule.
