Parrish - Omaha Public Schools
Welcome

The Expelled Student Program (ESP) is designed to serve students who have been expelled from Omaha Public Schools.  The program provides students an opportunity to maintain credit in courses required for promotion/graduation along with a community service experience.  Any student elementary through 12th grade, who has been expelled from school, and resides in the Omaha Public School's district lines may attend the program.

Students arrive at ESP through a district referral.  When a student is expelled from Omaha Public Schools, the Student Personnel Assistant refers the student’s cum folder to the program, which in turns generates an invitation for students to attend our orientation process.

All students enrolled in ESP have completed an orientation phase, which lasts four days.  During that time students are given the opportunity to spend time with each of their teachers before starting classes.  Additionally, students are given a Read 180 Placement Test. Students enrolled in the program attend school in ½ day sessions and we use Block Scheduling.  Our students take six courses each class is 45 minutes in length. These are scheduled 3 classes on A Day and 3 classes on B Day.  Two unique features of ESP include the Life Skills course, and the Community Service opportunity.  The entire program focuses on improving student’s behaviors.  Students carry a point card daily.  The point card enables staff to provide students with immediate feedback regarding their behavior.  Students earn or lose points depending on their behavior.  Feel free to ask your student about their point card.  At the end of each week students may cash in their points to shop at the school store, or they may bank their points.  Incentives include school supplies, basic hygiene items, games, food items, and coupons.
