Speech News

During the month of December, the Holidays were the focus for Communication.  My visits to each classroom consisted of reading a book on Christmas and then decorating a laminated Christmas Tree.  The students used their devices to ask to “turn the page”, or “have a turn”.  I carried that idea into January with a book on “Snowmen”.  The students were given opportunities to choose, hats, arms, scarves, and buttons to put on the laminated snowman.  They seemed to enjoy this because the whole class had input as to what their pictures would look like.  By doing this kind of activity, vocabulary words were stressed, along with opportunities for tactile input, and activating their devices to communicate their desires.
