Room 1 is a transition classroom with 8 students. We have four girls and four boys that range in age from 16-21.
Room 1 is off to a great start this year! This year our class is going on a trip around the world. We will be visiting all 7 continents starting with Nebraska right here in North America. We have our passports ready and we are excited to get started! We will be learning about the world through arts and crafts, cooking, books and music.
NOVEMBER
November is going to be a busy month in Room 1. We will be working on holiday crafts to sell at the transition craft sale. The money we earn is used for field trips, special events, and our homecoming and prom. Several
students will be selected to sell our crafts to the staff at the TAC building. The crafts will also be available after the winter program. Be sure to check them out-they make great gifts!!
We will also be adding a stamp on our passports as we continue our trip around the world. One week will be spent on the continent of
Australia! We'll learn about kangaroos, the Great Barrier Reef and aboriginal art.
Finally, we will spend a week talking about Thanksgiving. some of our activities will be: sweet potato pudding, Thanksgiving bingo, decorative place mats and corn muffins with homemade butter. On November 24th we will be getting together with our friends in Room 2 to hold our annual Thanksgiving feast. The students will help prepare the meal and use their communication devices to tell what they are most thankful for.
