"Train Wreck" Novak is a legend in the annuals of the University of Nebraska football history. His accomplishments include: All-Big Six fullback as a freshman in 1946, All-Big Six center in 1947, All-Big Seven in 1948, and in 1949, All-American at center and linebacker. In the 1950 College All-Star Game, Novak led the collegians to a 17-7 victory over the NFL Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Retired since a paralyzing accident in 1976, Novak was co-owner of Beatrice Motor Freight.
