Cavlovic was the catalyst responsible for raising over $38,000 for a Centennial Scholarship program at South High in 1989 during its 100th Anniversary celebration. He gathered a group of individuals who raised the funds and awarded sixteen $1,000 scholarships and created a permanent endowment to continue the program. Following his graduation from South, Cavlovic played baseball professionally with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He is the president and a director of the Ritonya-Buscher-Poehling Scholarship Fund which provides student grants and creative teaching grants to educators. Cavlovic is the Vice President and co-developer of the Corrigan Senior Center and housing units which provide services to South Omaha senior citizens.
