Teacher, author, community activist, Shari Horschire has been busy since she graduated from South. A member of the District 66 Board of Education since 1986, Mrs. Hofschire has served as the board's secretary, treasurer, vice president, and president. She is also the past president of the boards of the Childrens' Museum, the UNO Alumni Association, the Omaha Ballet and was the founding president of the Friends of Art. Currently, Mrs. Hofschire is the chair of the Omaha 2000 Report Card Task Force and a member of the Omaha 2000 Steering committee. While she was involved with a number of charitable and community activities, Mrs. Hofschire wrote the creative children's book, What's In This Place?, with the proceeds from its sale going to benefit the Omaha Childrens' Museum. Named as one of America's outstanding young women, Mrs. Hofschire certainly embodies the best of the best of South High.
