Sam Greenberg - Class of 1926

Sam believes "we must all pay rent in the form of service to make effective such things as brotherhood, kindliness, sympathy, honesty, human decency, and the freedom of opportunity for all men." His service record certainly demonstrates this belief. He has held membership in many South Omaha businesses and neighborhood association. He has also worked with the YMCA Heritage Club, Omaha Zoological Society, River City Train Boss, and the University of Omaha Order of the Tower. Sam is most noted for his part ownership of the Phillips Department Store. Mr. Greenberg has been honored by his peers by his selection of South Omaha Optimist of the Year, Honorary Mayor of Omaha, King of Ak-Sar-Ben, Boy Scouts Shofar Award, B'Nai B'rith Citizenship Citation, Kiwanis Club Distinguished Citizen Award, Honorary Knight of Columbus, N.C.C.J. Brotherhood Award; and the Salvation Army "Others Award". Sam's service record continues in several educational platforms. He served a two year term as a regent for University of Omaha and served on the Bellevue College Board of Advisers. His also provided leadership with the South Omaha Optimist Club, South Omaha Merchants Association, Omaha Salvation Army Board, as Governor with the Boy's Club of Omaha, and with the YMCA Metro Board.
