Dr. Pauline Negomir Harding was once caught running up the down staircase and was sent to the principal's office. This was the most serious infraction she ever committed and was sent to South's equivalent of capital punishment. She wondered if the teachers were starting to "pick on her" when she received word that she was selected as a Lyndon B. Johnson Australian Science Scholar. She has gone from being a Presidential Scholar to a distinguished career in medicine since her graduation from SHS. She is currently Medical Director and founder of the Optimal Health Center of America, a center devoted to the use of advanced biomedical technology and natural healing techniques in treating neuromuscular, hormonal and immunologic conditions which do not respond to traditional therapy. Dr. Harding has been in practice in Dupage County, Illinois since 1979 as a family practitioner, emergency room and occupational health physician. She has been an instructor in the Department of Family Practice of Rush Medical College in Chicago and a lecturer at the University of Chicago College of Medicine. Dr. Harding is a frequent guest of Chicago- area television programs as an authority on such illnesses as fibromylagia and chronic fatigue syndrome.
