Karen Kilgarin - Class of 1975

Ms. Kilgarin was recently named the Director of Communications and Publications for the Nebraska State Education Association after a distinguished career in television news and government. At the age of 23, Kilgarin was elected to the Nebraska Unicameral representing her home district in South Omaha. In 1984, she left the legislature to become the Lincoln Bureau Chief of KETV News. In 1992, she was appointed to Governor Ben Nelson's administration as Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Public Affairs. She has received numerous media awards including the Aksarben Gold Award for her series on the Two Forks Dam Project in Colorado.
