Jerry Korisko - Class of 1952

Jerry Korisko is a semi-retired funeral director for Korisko, Larkin & Staskiewicz Mortuary in South Omaha. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln before transferring to the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the Air Force and attended pilot training school. He was discharged as a Captain in the reserves because he was needed to run the family business when his father died.

He served as past President of the Omaha Funeral Directors Association, South Omaha Merchants Association, South Omaha Optimist Club and also was Lt. Governor of the Nebraska District of Optimist Club. He was a member of Sokol South Omaha and the South Omaha Youth Center as well as a committee member of "Swing for the Retarded." He has worked on United Way campaigns, and was the District Representative of the International Order of the Golden Rule (an independent organization of Funeral Homes and Directors). His honors include receiving the Omaha Archbishop's Youth Service Award and being named South Omaha Businessman of the Month. While in high school, Korisko was very active in sports and many organizations, including being selected Class President and Homecoming King. He carried on his dedication to excellence and leadership throughout his life and career.

Jerry and his wife Vickie have two daughters, two sons, and 10 grandchildren (one of whom is deceased).
