After being with the Union Casualty Company as director, executive vice president and chief operation officer for ten years, he left to build a company of his own. He founded Continental General Insurance Company (a life and health insurance firm). This company began with two employees, now it requires several hundred, with over 21,000 licensed sales agents in 46 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. British Virgin Islands. The company began with assets of $225,000 31 years ago and now exceeds $160,000,000. Mr. Myers serves on the Board of Directors of not only Continental General Insurance Company, but also Continental General Corporation, Continental Print & Photo Co., AAA Cornhusker Motor Club, and FirsTier Bank of Omaha. Creighton University awarded Mr. Myers with the annual "Alumni Merit Award" from the College of Business Administration in 1987. He was further honored with the "Guest of the Year" award and Lifetime Membership in the Omaha Concord Club. As Mr. Myers strives for the top, he gladly helps others follow. He is currently a member and past president of the Insurance Federation of Nebraska, the current chairman of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce Insurance Executive Committee, and a current member of the Board of Trustees for the Mid-America Council of Boy Scouts of America.
