Glen Cunningham is most noted for his position as Mayor of Omaha from 1948-54 and as a member of Congress from 1956-71. Congressman Cunningham has also served in Nebraska as Omaha's Superintendent of the Department of Fire Protection and Water and was the Nebraska Director for the U.S. Treasury Department Savings Bond Program. Nationally, he was a Special Assistant in the Department of Outdoor Recreation and in the U.S. Department of Interior; and was a member of a White House Special Task Force. Cunningham has served the community as President of the Omaha Junior Chamber of Commerce. He has been a member of the Board of Education for the Omaha Public Schools, Board of Governors, Metropolitan Technical Community College, and Pi Kappa Alpha. Congressmen Cunningham has been award honors including: Omaha's "Outstanding Young Man" in 1945, Marquis, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Government, recipient of membership in the National Registry of Prominent Americans and International Notables. Mr. Cunningham was also named a U.N.O. Distinguished alumnus and named Sun Newspaper's "Man of the Year." Congressman Cunningham attended Peru State College, University of Omaha, and Northwestern University.
