Waking up to slobber at six in the morning with your dog lying next to you taking half of your bed, you get up to go feed them but instead you find them chewing on the couch. You are thinking to yourself, “Great how are you going to get through the day.”
Newlyweds John Grogan, played by Owen Wilson, and his wife Jenny, played by Jennifer Aniston, move down to Florida where the sun always shines and find themselves jobs as newspaper reporters for different companies. Little did they know, their lives were about to change when John adopted a Labrador named Marley for Jenny.
Marley was the clearance puppy out of all the other puppies and that was the main reason John bought him. It was his job to train Marley before Jenny got back from her trip but it did not go so well. Marley would howl whenever it was raining because he is scared of thunderstorms and will eat just about anything that he can get his mouth on.
As Marley and the Grogan family grew, Marley became more of a trouble maker. Neither John nor Jenny could control Marley and had to move into a bigger home for their growing family and more room for Marley to move around. Even though with a bigger house, Marley still manages to cause chaos but the Grogans still loved him.
Marley and Me was a fantastic movie. Honestly, the only reason why I went to go see this movie was because I needed to wait for my ride and this was the only movie that was playing right then, so I was like, why not. Going in, I thought that this movie was going to suck and bored the heck out of me and man, was I in for a surprise.
When the movie started rolling, it caught my attention right then. The acting was great and some of the scenes were hilarious. My favorite part was when Marley ate Jenny’s gold necklace and later John found it outside in Marley’s waste. The whole audience was laughing their heads off.
The only negative I had about this movie was that it was rated PG. Before you think or say anything, let me explain why. First of all, there were a scene where Jenny stripped naked and dove into a pool and John followed after. What would a 5 year old think if he or she saw that? They are there to watch a nice little movie about a dog named Marley not two couples making love. I thought that they should have rated it more accurately like, PG-13.
The ending was emotional; I heard a lady sitting behind me crying and blowing her nose. It was an amazing movie with the right music to go along with it. I walked into Marley and Me thinking that it was going to be the dumbest movie that I had ever seen, but walked out satisfied and happy that I went to go see it. I love movies like these, not to mention the fact that it was 2 hours long, they make you think like the movie is going to be boring but in the end, you walk out happy.
